I create, therefore I am

I wonder where the next to set
For there is no programmed preset
That here is better than there
Or that here should be instead bare.

Logic absent from decision...
An unsuspected cognition...
Makes me believe I'm defective
For this is not my directive.

I do not know why I started
And I do not know how to end;
Now here I stand disconcerted
And unable to comprehend.

The urge to create these white lines,
Invoking non-programmed designs,
Is as intriguing as these rhymes,
Also non-programmed paradigms.

No longer bound by a program,
I create, therefore I am.

This image was obviously inspired by the wonderful works of Isaac Asimov about robots, all of which I avidly read when I was a teenager.

This little poem was written by myself, as the poems in my other images, to act as a kind of companion to the images. I aim to simultaneously try to provide some insight of what's going on in my mind and raise some questions in the viewers minds, questions that they may otherwise not have had. I hope I'm being successful in this little endeavor.

Some words about the metric of this poem: as you may have noticed, I tried to use 8 syllables. This was intentional because it's as if this is written by a robot, a digital mind. As many of you will know, binary is the natural "language" of computers. The number 8 is 2 to the 3rd power and so in binary it has a beautiful form of "1000". I imagined that if a robot would ever write poetry, he'd probably choose a metric in a power of two.
There's an exception in the very last verse: it has 7 syllables. This is also intentional because this last verse marks a change in his mind, a departure from binary...

This is the 3rd and last image in this series "The Place". The three images form an overall concept but I will not go into detail of what's in my mind about it, I will leave this up to the viewers.
