The Lost City by ArthurBlue The Lost City by ArthurBlue
See the opening in the foreground vegetation? That's for you to step in and enjoy the coolness of the shade and the warmth of the water. :-)

Rendered in Vue, as usual. Minor post-work in PS, just some minor corrections and some glow here and there.

It's been ages since my last tropical island. I really like to make islands, with the sand and water and vegetation. Have to do more. :)

EDIT: this image has two "companions", here: Land by ArthurBlue
and here: My beach in a Moon crater by ArthurBlue

This one, I do not like. Mainly because of the pyramid and my bad experiences with it.

I love water and I can't get tired of seeing renders like this. Really great work on this one. It does make me want to step in and sit next to the shore, in the shade. Very inviting.

Very nice, I like the addition of the Atlantean pyramid - but what really sets this image off for me is the boat and the shape of the sail in the wind.

he rendered a whole landscape, and you comment with the "shape of the sail in the wind" is the most striking thing ?

Brilliant! That was exactly the idea I wanted to convey! :) The place that could have been the source of all legends.
Thanks!

Hmm, I wonder how the Egyptians got the top of it to float :plotting: Very cool scene, almost surreal. And the beach is fantastic, especially the sand texture and palm trees

Hmm, I wonder why you think these are Egyptians... :)
Is it the pyramid? Several other civilizations had pyramids, in one shape or another.
I was thinking more of the ancestors of Egyptians. Let's say, 10000 BC or something like that. The period when history says that nothing this big existed but yet they keep finding big underwater archeological remains dated more or less this time. Google it, you'll be amazed at the mysteries that lie underwater dated from really ancient times that history says they can't exist.
To be exact, I was thinking of Atlantis... The city of legends could have been based on some real place that was flooded when the sea raised in the end of the last glacial age (as many other places have been - google this out as well, you'll be amazed too at the huge area that was above water before and got flooded as a result of the melting of all the accumulated ice).
Interestingly, Hera-of-Stockholm commented on the image as well and she got exactly my idea. :)

It was partly because of the pyramid :XD: but I knew it wasn't an Egyptian one since part is hovering above the rest, I was just joking around ;p Though I did think the buildings around it were perhaps from an Egyptian-themed pack or something even if they weren't intended to be used in that context. Atlantis before flooding does seem more original though anyway :)

I only recently learned that back when the Egyptian pyramids were still new they were bright white :omg: I just thought they were stone-coloured to begin with. The white layer seemed to have been eroded by weather and harvested by later colonies of people for their precious materials...kinda sad really :(

Yes, that's sad. And there was another thing: did you notice how the top of some pyramids are flat? Take a look at this image, for example: [link]
Many believe that the top was made of gold or other precious material, which was stolen. That was the inspiration for my floating top. Maybe the Egyptians made this special top as a reminiscence of older pyramids, whose top was, let's say, more special than just gold. :-)

So do it, what are you waiting for? :)
There's a free version that you can try for yourself and see if you like it or not. E-on calls it PLE - Personal Learning Edition.

Aye but the renders are watermarked and the Infinite version is absurdly expensive. XC I'm thinking I might just wait for their next edition. They seem to release one every few months or so. But I think I will definitely download the PLE and give it a try. I'd love to incorporate Vue into my 2D work. :D I just wish I had a computer that could render faster. XC I hate long render times.
