Yes, you're probably right about the stars. But realism ranks only 3rd in my level of priorities, when it comes to creating images. My first two priorities are imagination and beauty so sometimes I have to sacrifice a bit of realism...

But, is that big star the parent star? Because if it is then the lightning is wrong... I am surely wrong, just thought you might want to know.

That in front is not a star, that's a very dense star cluster. Or at least that was my intention.
The "sun" is on the right side of the image, as you can see from the shadows. This scene was built in Vue, which is a 3D software so the sun is an object that I place where I want. It's very similar to Bryce, that you use. It's the software that defines the shadows, based upon the place where I placed the sun. So, the shadows can't be wrong because they're calculated by the software.
As I said, hope you make more colonies in the future!
